This guide is designed to help women’s rights organizations (WROs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and other mission-driven groups understand innovative finance and engage more confidently in conversations about finance, funding, and investment.
It aims to:
• Help organizations recognize where finance shows up in strategy, partnerships, growth, sustain ability, and systems change conversations, even when it is not named explicitly
• Offer a simple orientation to common finance language, actors, and instruments organizations may encounter
• Support more grounded, respectful conversations between movements, civil society actors, investors, funders, and intermediaries
• Make it easier for organizations to ask informed questions, assess fit, and decide how they want to engage
This guide is not an exhaustive overview of innovative finance, nor is it a how‑to manual or an assessment framework. It does not assume that finance is always the right tool, or that all capital is aligned with movement‑led work.
Our work depends on an ever-expanding community of team members, advisors, donors, and other partners who help us achieve our mission.
